Victor’s Story

“Good morning, girls!” … this phrase is how we have started our morning, three times a week for the past year.

I am writing this letter to thank you for receiving Victor among you, for encouraging him, for correcting him, for giving him hugs, and for continuously helping him to discover the world.

Victor is four years old and with your help he learned in one year as much as others learn in four. He learned to be happy, to be sad, and to see the green in grass; he learned to be a child!

The initial evaluation was, let’s say, difficult. “The child will progress to a point where he/she may or may not develop speech.” These were, more or less, Carmen’s words which, I admit, upset me, but also gave me a lot of trust in the possibility of progress. Carmen, for this and for many other things, I thank you!

It seems like yesterday when Victor first heard, “Do this!” and had to imitate talking on the phone. Today, he tells me, “Mom, stop talking on the phone!” Ionela, for this and for many other things, I thank you!

It seems like yesterday when he first heard, “Do this!” and he had to imitate blowing. Today, he tells me, “Mom, I want to blow that candle!” Anca, for this and for many other things, I thank you!

It seems like yesterday when he first heard, “Do this!” and had to kick a ball. Today he tells me, “Mom, I scored a goal!” Elvira, for this and for many other things, I thank you!

It seems like yesterday when Victor had to “Point to the window.” Today he tells me, “Mom, I am looking out the window.” Catalina, for this and for many other things, I thank you!

It seems like yesterday when he had to, “Show me five.” Today he says, “Mom, I have five candies.” Mihaela, for this and for many other things, I thank you!

It seems like yesterday he was learning to “Point to V.” Today he tells me, “Mom, I wrote Vlad.” Crina, for this and for many other things, I thank you!

And the list continues …

Thank you Nicoleta for the receptive language, for the expressive language, for everything! Thank you Cristi’s Outreach! You are more than a team, you are a true family. Thank you, Tracy! You are a great support to our children and to us, their mothers!

Nothing and no one will remove you from Victor’s heart.

“Good-bye, girls!”

With love,

Victor’s Family
